On Sunday October 12, 1997, he finally decided he would enter his first show, the Heart Of England Hamster Club's show at East Challow in Oxfordshire. There he soundly trounced the feeble opposition which was naive enough to imagine that they could compete with such a fine beast as he.
Not only did he waltz away with First Prize in the Chinese class, but he also claimed First Prize in the Novice Exhibitor's class. In addition to these triumphs he came fourth in the Grand Challenge for all dwarfs, where he left all the Russians scrabbling around in the starting blocks, but narrowly lost out to a trio of superb Winter Whites.
